Elliot Weiss

Elliot Weiss is a partner in Barton’s business transactions practice. He represents clients in corporate and securities matters, including mergers and acquisitions, debt finance transactions, venture capital financings, private equity and joint venture transactions, and registration and disclosure reporting for public company issuers pursuant to the ’33 Act and ’34 Act.

Elliot’s clients range from small and midsize businesses to financial buyers, private equity funds, family offices, and regional banks. He advises on sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, secured lending, and corporate financing transactions including senior credit facilities, ABL facilities, and acquisition financings. Elliot also brings his talents as an accomplished musician to his work on transactions in the music industry involving the purchase and sale of music companies, recording and publishing catalogs, commercial licensing, joint ventures and secured lending.

Elliot is an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute’s graduate program where he teaches Intellectual Property Law and Business Law. Elliot is a member of the state bar associations of New York, California and Nevada and a volunteer for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of New York, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts, and Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada.

Prior to joining Barton, Elliot practiced at Holland & Hart and at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York. Before his legal career, Elliot was an investment banker at a former NYSE-listed financial services company, which provided him with the foundation of his understanding of complex corporate finance structures.

Elliot has been selected to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and, as published by Thomson Reuters, he has been recognized as a New York Super Lawyer Rising Star in the area of mergers and acquisitions.
