Alastar S. McGrath concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial and employment litigation. He represents individuals and entities in numerous industries, including health, construction and transportation. Mr. McGrath has tried cases in both federal and state courts, has argued before the appellate courts and is a member of the Northern District of Illinois • Trial Bar.
Mr. McGrath has experience in a wide variety of complex litigation matters, ranging from the successful defense of a wage and hour class action that recently was upheld by the Illinois Appellate Court to the successful defense of a seven-figure breach of contract claim. In other representative matters, Mr. McGrath successfully has defended a multi-million dollar sexual harassment, retaliation and civil rights violation case; defeated a general contractor’s improperly placed construction lien; and secured, pro-bono, the death and workers compensation benefits for the family of a municipal employee who died in the line of duty.
Mr. McGrath has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana and received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1999. Mr. McGrath is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
