Peter Levy’s perspective on practicing law, and the practical approach he brings to business solutions, are unique. Having been a corporate executive for many years, Peter sees the attorney’s role as a resource – an important resource – but realistically only one factor in a business owner’s decision-making process. Successful people incorporate a balance of legal, strategic, economic, and ethical dimensions into their decisions.
Peter chairs the firm’s Life Science and Emerging Technology Practices. Having served as the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, Peter’s knowledge of FDA regulatory matters, clinical trials, software as a medical devise (SAMD), and wholesale drug pricing serves his clients well. He has handled major transactions with Johnson & Johnson, Celgene, and Pfizer.
Peter’s transactional, commercial practice has included some of the world’s most prominent entrepreneurs, multi-generational family businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. Peter has spearheaded complex transactions involving RR Donnelly, AT&T, Hewlett Packard, as well as serving as both the advisor and attorney on the sale of closely-held businesses with sales approaching $500 million. Peter also served as legal counsel for the first affinity credit card, managing the largest credit card launch in U.S. history.
He was the first Integrity Monitor appointed by the SEC for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and also served as the Deputy Chief for Internal Controls for the construction of the Freedom Tower. He has run two public companies and managed many aspect of SEC litigation.
In addition to practicing law for 15 years, Peter spent 12 years as a partner at a regional accounting firm, and has served as the chief operating officer of two different public companies, and the CEO of a public company where Peter successfully positioned the company on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
Peter has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint venture partnering, corporate governance, business processes, and strategic planning.
Community service is an important aspect of Peter’s life. For over 20 years he has been on the Board and also served as the Corporate Liaison to Easter Seals – Camp ASCCA, America’s flagship camp for People with Disabilities, and he is the co-builder of the Roswal-Levy Tower, the world’s largest wheelchair-accessible interactive climbing tower for the disabled. For over a decade, Peter has been on the Board of Hamp’s Camp, a charity founded by former N.Y. Giants running back Rodney Hampton, which is dedicated to providing leadership tools to underprivileged children in Atlanta, Newark, and Houston.
Peter is the author of “Corporate Topography” ™, a leading strategic planning tool. He speaks on business processes, board governance, and integrity on behalf of companies and at numerous board retreats.
