J. Matthew Sikes focuses his practice on commercial litigation and general civil litigation. He has experience in a broad range of disputes from contractual disputes, oil and gas disputes, real estate litigation, business divorces, non-compete agreements and a wide array of other business litigation matters. He has experience before both state and federal courts, as well as in numerous arbitrations.
Matthew was second in his graduating class at Baylor School of Law. In law school, he was an Executive Editor of the Baylor Law Review and a member of the Order of the Barristers, a Top Five speaker in moot court competitions and a participant in a number student societies. After graduation and prior to joining Moses, Palmer & Howell, L.L.P., Matthew began his practice in the commercial litigation section of one of the largest law firms in the world. He later practiced as a litigator at another large national firm and one of the oldest firms in Texas. He has successfully defended and prosecuted a number of lawsuits on behalf of a wide variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to individuals. He has served as the lead attorney in a number of matters at both the trial and appellate level.
He is a member of the Tarrant and Dallas County Bar Associations and is the past presenter of several presentations on a wide range of legal issues from discovery to substantive developments in shareholder litigation.
Matthew is a proud double graduate of Baylor University with past experience as a mentor to students in Baylor’s honors college, of which he is an alum. He is a member of the Baylor Law Network, the Baylor Alumni Association, and a season ticket holder in football. In the past, he has been heavily involved in fundraising for pediatric brain cancer research, resulting in gifts to St. Jude’s Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Center. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife and three children.
