David T. Woods

David is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate and Tax Credit Financing Practice Groups, and a member of the Firm’s Management Committee.  David focuses his practice on all areas of commercial real estate, with a particular emphasis on transactions involving Federal and State low-income housing, historic rehabilitation and new markets tax credits.  David has represented lenders, owners, tax credit investors and non-for-profit organizations in all forms of commercial real estate developments and has closed transactions in over 30 states.  Transactions in which David has been involved have included all forms of development incentives including tax-exempt bonds, tax increment financing and tax abatement.  He has also represented numerous landlords and tenants in the negotiation of leases for retail, office and industrial properties.  David has been named to the Best Lawyers in America every year since 2017 and was named Lawyer of the Year for Real Estate Law for the St. Louis area in 2021.

Representative Experience
Represented local bank as construction lender, tax-exempt bond purchaser and bridge lender on Federal and State tax credit transactions throughout the United States
Represented not-for-profit developer on construction of multi-phase senior housing facility using Federal and State Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and various other state incentives
Represented bank as Federal tax credit investor on numerous low-income housing tax credit transactions throughout Missouri
Represented numerous developers in low-income housing and historic rehabilitation tax credit transactions throughout the Midwest
Represented local retailer in negotiation of retail leases throughout Missouri and Kansas
