Mr. Xu is a senior partner of Watson and Band Law Offices in Shanghai, an Arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Committee.
Holding a degree from the Machinery Department of Shanghai University, Mr. Xu was an officer of the State Intellectual Property Office, Shanghai Branch from 1980 to 1984 and obtained the Patent attorney Qualification in 1984. In the same year, he entered the Shanghai Patent and Trademark Agency, for which he acted as Director of the performance department and legal department until 1994. In 1986, Mr. Xu gained the Lawyer Qualification Certificate by passing China's first Bar Qualification Test and then he continued to make an advanced study on Patent Law in Japan from 1987 to 1988.
Mr. Xu has been involved in numerous domestic and overseas patent applications and hundreds of IP litigation cases. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Xu successfully represented the first case concerning a Japanese company's litigation against a Chinese company and the first patent infringement case between two foreign companies in China.
Mr. Xu's particular expertise lies in Intellectual Property laws, especially Industrial Property-related laws, and he has also published dozens of research papers in these areas.
