Nathan Meloon is an associate with Widerman Malek, P.L. in Melbourne, Fla. and provides a full range of litigation services to businesses and individuals. He focuses on the areas of land use and development, real estate, local government law, employment law, and property rights protection.
Prior to joining Widerman Malek, Meloon was the Director of Policy and Government Affairs for the Melbourne Regional Chamber and the Deputy Legislative Affairs Director for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
A graduate of Florida State University, Meloon earned his juris doctor from FSU College of Law in 2017. He completed a legal externship in the Brevard County Attorney’s Office. He also served as an intern for the Florida House of Representatives for both Rep. Seth McKeel, chair of the House Appropriations Committee, and Rep. Eric Eisnaugle, chair of the Civil Justice Subcommittee.
A: My first job was detailing boats and cleaning the facilities at my family’s dealership. I started doing it in high school and continued during college summers. It taught me the value of a hard day’s work and the importance of working with efficiency.
A: I grew up watching my father and grandfather run a business and I was always interested when they involved their legal team for transactional and litigation issues. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be involved in the legal field.
A: I have been fortunate to have many influential people throughout my life that have guided me to where I am today. From legislators, judges, and experienced attorneys in the community and at my current firm, I have seen examples of what it takes to be successful both in my career and as an individual.
A: Don’t apologize for high standards.
A: Speak another language, as I’m currently working on my Spanish for an upcoming trip to Spain.
A: Gaining the confidence as a young attorney to argue dispositive motions and first chair trials.
A: I participate in various community groups and church events in my community. My firm supports a charity called No Bad Days Foundation that provides life enhancing medical devices to those who are unable to acquire them. Another service organization I enjoy is Tied Together, a group of men from the community that teach boys from local public schools how to shake hands and tie ties.
A: Representing the brother of a fellow Primerus attorney on a personal matter. Knowing the client came from Primerus created good rapport from the start.
A: I have degrees in finance and political science. I have always been interested in politics and business. There is no specific career that comes to mind, as I have known since I was a young kid that I wanted to pursue law.
A: While some may question whether it is a material possession or a member of the family, I have to say my 5-year-old Whoodle (Wheaten Terrier, Poodle mix), George.
A: Growing up my family would spend summers in the Adirondack Mountains. I would spend the days fishing, swimming, golfing, hiking, boating, and exploring the history of the area. Those mountains will always hold a special place in my memories, and I cannot wait to take my family there to experience the beauty.
A: Movie: “Elf.”
Book: Anything by John Grisham.
A: My wife and I recently took a trip out west to hike the national parks in Utah and Arizona. Zion Canyon National Park in Utah immediately took my breath away. The magnitude of the landscapes was like nothing I have ever seen before, and it was incredible that it exists in the U.S.
A: In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter; running, golfing, and fishing. I recently ran my first marathon and I’m itching to start training for my next.

A: George W. Bush, Mike Norvell (Florida State University head football coach), Matt Wilpers (Peloton instructor), and Winston Churchill, which should make for interesting conversation.
A: Explore the beaches of Normandy, D-Day beaches. Play golf at a major championship course. Run the New York City Marathon.
