Demorest Law Firm (Dearborn/Royal Oak, MI) is pleased to announce that Dave Nykanen has joined the firm as a Principal. Dave is a very experienced attorney, with 15 years of practice in the Detroit area. He primarily practices in the areas of real estate and business law.

Dave is also one of the leading attorneys in Michigan for property tax appeals. He is available to handle tax appeals for commercial properties, including commercial, retail, industrial and multi-family properties. He can also handle tax appeals for sub-divisions, condominium associations and large residential properties.

Dave has outstanding credentials. He was a magna cum laude graduate of Oakland University, receiving his B.A. in 1992. He also was selected as the outstanding male graduate. Dave then attend Wayne State University Law School, where he was Managing Editor of the Wayne Law Review. He graduated cum laude in 1995.

Dave has also been recognized for his accomplishments as a lawyer. He selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America for 2011 in the area of real estate. He was also selected as a Michigan Super Lawyer in 2009 and 2010.

He has been active in the Real Property Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is currently a member of the Council, the governing body of the Real Property Section. He is also a former Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee, the Homeward Bound programming committee, and the Summer Conference committee. Dave has also served as the Chair of the Oakland County Bar Association’s Real Estate Law Committee.
