As we all navigate these uncharted waters, we are grateful to have those in our communities willing to assist the front-line workers who are putting their lives at risk for all of us. I am pleased to share a few examples of how Primerus members are taking time during this difficult period to give back and make a positive impact in their local communities.
The firm provided meals to some of the UAB Medicine and University of Alabama at Birmingham health care providers. We are so thankful for them...good to see they are doing well and still have their sense of humor!
On April 21, thirty-four nurses from Colorado came to aide New Jersey medical workers, through a partnership with the Catholic Healthcare Partnership of New Jersey. Since then, the nurses have been assisting three hospitals that have been especially hit hard by the pandemic – St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, and Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. All the nurses have been living in hotels for the past month when they’re not working long shifts at the hospitals.
When Mindy Carton, wife of attorney David Carton, learned about this, she sprang into action. Mindy, a native of Colorado, worked with their kids Holden, Harper, and Emerson to bring the nurses homemade baskets with baked goods and thank you notes. And after Mindy reached out to Mandelbaum Salsburg, the firm joined the effort. With the firm’s financial support, Mindy delivered the nurses a very special Mandelbaum Salsburg care package on Friday and Saturday, featuring energy drinks, snack bars and a Mother’s Day treat.
Mindy said the nurses were overwhelmed and so appreciative of the thoughtfulness. Here are a few pictures of Mindy’s kids creating the packages, and the nurses receiving them. Hopefully, they’ll brighten your day.
I hope you find these examples inspiring and helpful for your firm. Please share how your firm is giving back to your local community, evolving with the changing environment or helpful tips that may benefit a Primerus colleague.
