Daniel J. Kubasiak named Cook County Circuit Court judge, Lawyers’ Assistance Program board member.

Daniel J. Kubasiak, a Kubasiak, Fylstra, Thorpe & Rotunno, P.C., (KFTR) director and shareholder, will be sworn in as a circuit judge of Cook County, at large, on Nov. 30.

“I’m very grateful for the confidence the Supreme Court has placed in me,” Kubasiak said. “I look forward to the challenge and the opportunity to serve the citizens of Cook County.”

Kubasiak’s swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Illinois Supreme Court (160 N. LaSalle St.) at 11 a.m. on Nov. 30. Justice Anne Burke will administer the oath of office. Kubasiak will succeed former Circuit Judge James Egan, who retired earlier this year.

In addition, the Supreme Court appointed Kubasiak to the Lawyers’ Assistance Program’s (LAP) board of directors. The organization helps legal professionals who need drug, alcohol and psychological counseling and related support.

“Mental health and substance abuse take a dramatic toll on our community and the legal profession is not immune,” Kubasiak said. “The Lawyers’ Assistance Program serves as a critical lifeline for judges, lawyers, law students and their families who face life’s challenges.”
