ISLANDIA, NY– Lewis Johs is proud to announce the promotion of three attorneys to their partnership: Amy E. Bedell, Annemarie S. Jones, and Joseph M. Charchalis. Amy E. Bedell focuses on complex litigation and appeals in all areas of civil defense, from medical malpractice and nursing home litigation, to insurance coverage disputes and municipal, premises, and general liability actions. Prior to joining Lewis Johs, Amy practiced for several years as a commercial litigator, and served as a habeas law clerk to the Honorable Joanna Seybert, the Honorable Arthur D. Spatt, and the Honorable Denis R. Hurley in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Amy received her Juris Doctor, With Distinction, from Hofstra Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Hofstra Law Review. Upon graduation, she was awarded the William Eric Goldberg Scholarship Award in recognition of her leadership and contributions to the law school.
Annemarie S. Jones focuses her practice on the representation of commercial clients in complex civil litigation. She represents corporate, construction, and technology clients in state and federal courts in all aspects of discovery, motion practice, and trial litigation. Annemarie is a member of the Board of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of New York Chapter. She is the Treasurer and the Chair of the Public/Media Relations & Digital Strategy Committee of the Eastern District of New York Chapter. Annemarie received her J.D. magna cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
Joseph M. Charchalis manages defense litigation involving a wide array of clients in general liability matters, including commercial litigation, transportation law, vehicular negligence and property damage claims. Joseph’s trial results have contributed to the firm’s list of defense verdicts. He has been recognized as a Rising Star by NY Metro Super Lawyers since 2017. He graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in 2010, after attending on a presidential scholarship. Joseph also serves on the board of directors for the Dante Foundation, which seeks to provide scholarships for outstanding youths of Italian ancestry and support deserving charitable organizations and causes.
