​Q&A with Adly Bellagha

Adly Bellagha is a partner with Adly Bellagha and Associates in Tunis, Tunisia. The firm handles family law matters, alternative dispute resolution, banking and corporate law litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and other business cases.

What motivated you to pursue a legal career?

My father founded the law firm so I succeeded him.

Who was your chief mentor and how did he or she influence your career?

First was my father and then Mr. Daly Jazy, who was a political activist for democracy. Daly introduced me to the defense of political prisoners.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Peace is with your enemy.

What is one thing you would like to learn to do?

Improve my knowledge of Islamic finance matters.

What is your proudest career achievement?

Handling my first syndicated loan when I was 28.

What other career path might you have chosen?   

I started to be economist then I turned to the law.

What do you do to give back to your community?

I am member of various caritative associations in Tunisia.

What is your most treasured material possession?

My villa on the sea.

What is among your happiest family memories?

Graduation of my second child in London.

What is your favorite movie and book?

Movie: “Reds.”
Book: “Les Miserables” by Victor Hugo.

What is the most awe-inspiring place you have visited?

The Vatican.

Yachting.

Who is on your guest list for the ideal dinner party?

My family.

What are the top three items on your bucket list?

Visiting Iran for the Persian history/civilization. A trip to Peru. Being involved in social assistance work.
