Q&A with Izzy Finn

What is your position with Primerus, how long have you been with Primerus, and what can members & clients come to you for?

I am the Digital Marketing Coordinator at Primerus. I have been with Primerus since this past June. Members and clients can come to me with anything about social media or our new website.

What was your very first job?

My very first job was as an administrative assistant at Detroit Dog Rescue during a summer in high school where I would help coordinate events, work the phones, and play with puppies!

How did your career path lead you to your current position?

Once I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in marketing, I got a job as a marketing and operations coordinator at a local business in Grand Rapids, Mich. and then knew I wanted to shift to focus more on the marketing side of things rather than operations.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s everyone’s first time living, and we are all just doing our best.

What is one thing you would like to learn to do?

I’d like to learn how to absolutely shred an electric guitar.

What other career path might you have chosen?

I always thought I would go into photography and film. I also always had interested in being a lawyer, but I never wanted to actually go to law school.

What is your most treasured material possession?

I have an old sweatshirt of my mom’s that she used to wear all the time when I was little and she’s wearing it in so many pictures from my childhood that when she went to get rid of it recently, I took it and now I wear it all the time! My cameras are a close second to that sweatshirt.

What is your happiest childhood memory?

Hanging out by the pool at my family’s house. We would spend all day outside together with all of our friends coming around for impromptu cookouts and parties. It was always especially a blast when it came to our annual cousins vs parents volleyball game on our DIY volleyball court – losers got thrown into the pool, clothes and all.

What is your favorite movie and book?

Movie: “About Time”
Book: I can’t say I have a book that comes to mind as a favorite

What is the most awe-inspiring place you have visited?

Colorado was gorgeous. Being from Michigan, we have beaches in every direction and most vacations I take are to sunny beach-based destinations. Going out west and being somewhere with mountains was unlike anywhere I’ve visited. Hiking through the mountains and even driving down the highway had my jaw on the floor.

What are your favorite leisure time pursuits?

Taking my camera out and editing pictures after or cooking.

What is your favorite famous or inspirational quote?

“Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes” – Maggie Kuhn

Who is on your guest list for the ideal dinner party?

I’m not very into any celebrities or big names, so I would just invite my close family and my grandparents who have passed. Being able to really enjoy and appreciate my entire family including my grandparents now as an adult would be more than ideal.

What are the top three items on your bucket list?

Travel to Europe. Live in a state other than Michigan. Learn how to play guitar.
