A partner with Zupkus & Angell, P.C. in Denver, Colorado, Muliha Khan specializes in commercial and civil litigation. Her practice encompasses a broad range of legal matters, including defending both insurance companies and insureds in bad faith, personal and bodily injury claims, and construction defects. She also practices in the area of employment law, providing both pre-litigation and litigation services. Additionally, Khan has significant appellate experience at all levels and has drafted briefs for the United States Supreme Court, the Colorado Supreme Court, and Colorado Court of Appeals.
In 2014, Khan was selected as the “Publications Vice-Chair” of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Diversity Committee. The goal of the committee is to advance and promote one of DRI’s core values: diversity in the legal profession, a cause close to Khan’s heart.
A member of the Primerus™ Quality Assurance Board, Khan graduated from Colorado College with a Bachelor of Arts in history, cum laude. She earned her J.D. from the University of Denver where she was the Candidacy Editor for the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. Khan also participated in the Civil Litigation Clinic and moot court, placing first in the Client Counseling competition. Khan was recently honored as a Colorado Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine.
Khan’s work and life experiences span four continents and she has lived significant portions of her life in the United Kingdom, Libya, and Bangladesh.
A: I worked in the legal department of a financial company. Muliha in corporate America went as well as you would expect.
A: I thought having a J.D. would open doors for me whether that was practicing law or doing something else.
A: My family (grandparents, parents, and extended family) were my first and most influential mentors in life, constantly emphasizing the importance of education.
A: Always remember to believe in yourself in the same way others believe in you.
A: I love sweets, so I wish I could bake. My kids were very good- natured at Christmas when my cookies were so close to one another that they formed into one big giant cookie!
A: Obtaining a defense verdict for my subcontractor client in a case where there were coverage issues and risk of an excess judgment. There was so much on the line for my client, including his home and his business. His reaction when I delivered the good news was very moving.
A: Advertising executive or being a host on the Home Shopping Network.
A: I like to focus on contributing to organizations with a local presence.
A: It’s a long list! The firm has invested a lot of time and energy into Primerus™ over the years (presenting, contributing articles, attending events), and we’ve experienced a steady flow of referrals as a result.
A: I have a box of all the cards my kids have made me over the years. That’s very special to me.
A: Summers in England with my siblings and cousins.

Book: How can you make me pick? Here are three great books which I have read recently: “The Giver” by Lois Lowry; “Homegoing” by Yaa Gyas; and “An American Marriage” by Tayari Jones.
A: Cozumel. Snorkeling with my kids; fresh ceviche, and being only a ferry-ride away from Mayan ruins – we couldn’t have asked for anything more!
A: Trying out new restaurants; hanging out at the beach; and watching food competition shows (think “Top Chef” and “The Great British Bake Off”).
