Richard E. Smith Appointed to Samford University’s Board of Overseers

The law firm of Christian & Small LLP, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, announced today that Richard E. Smith, Esq., a partner in the firm, has been appointed to Samford University’s Board of Overseers. He will serve a four-year term on the board, which provides advice and counsel to the Samford University president and board of trustees on academic issues and policies and supports the university’s advancement in the community.
“We congratulate Richard as he embarks on this prominent appointment,” said Managing Partner Deborah Alley Smith. “He has an outstanding reputation as a supportive leader in the Birmingham community and will be an asset to Samford as a member of its Board of Overseers.”
Smith is one of the founding partners of Christian & Small. He was the firm’s managing partner for five years and focuses his practice on complex corporate litigation for clients in the financial services, health care and construction industries. Smith has extensive litigation experience, including over 150 jury trials in more than 30 Alabama counties and all three Alabama federal district courts. He received his B.S. from Samford University and holds a J.D. from its Cumberland School of Law.
