This webinar will illustrate the challenges from the legal perspective when negotiating, signing and executing contracts across borders. After the presentation, the participant will have a good understanding of the essentials of cross border contracts; the specific requirements needed for their enforcement, cultural obstacles and compliance aspects. The presenters Tina Denso and Philipp von Dietze, are both partners in the German based law firm Brödermann Jahn whose specific focus is international business. As to the essentials of cross border contracts the participants will learn the relevance to make a distinction between the applicable law and the place of jurisdiction, the specific problems to deal with international group of companies and how to cope with theses in the contract, the effectiveness of IP and Know how protection clauses and mechanism to secure a safe payment.
After some insights into enforcement and compliance aspects the participant will get an own feeling for the cultural challenges of cross border contracts by listening to some of the war stories Tina and Philipp have experiences on their own. At the end awareness of the cultural dimension in cross border business helps to avoid sunk costs.

Tina Denso concentrates in her practice on distribution law, international commercial law, contracts as well as national and international litigation and arbitration.
Dr. Philipp von Dietze - Broedermann Jahn (Hamburg, Germany)
Dr. Philipp von Dietze focuses on advising clients in their growth strategy including the acquisition of companies, the establishment of joint ventures and the implementation of sales and distribution systems. Dr. Philipp von Dietze is also working on antitrust law issues, in particular with regard to distribution, production and R&D cooperation agreements and antitrust compliance within dominant companies.
Prior to his time with Brödermann Jahn, Dr. Philipp von Dietze gained seven years of experience with two Hamburg based law firms, both of which had a broad international approach.
