Mr. Ball was admitted to the Alabama Bar in February 1962 and after two years in the Army, commenced a general practice with the firm in Montgomery. He spent the greater part of his practice in the litigation of insurance, damage, probate, business, tax and regulatory issues. He currently limits his practice to business matters, including entity formation and governance, litigation consulting, real estate, insurance regulatory matters and business transactions. Mr. Ball is a native Montgomerian having been educated in its public schools. He received his A.B. and L.L.B. degrees from the University of Alabama in 1962. He attended the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General School at the University of Virginia and the Basic Infantry Officers Orientation Course at Ft. Benning, Georgia and was then assigned to Headquarters U.S. Army Europe in Heidleburg, Germany. He was discharged honorably as a Captain and commenced practice with the firm in 1964.
While retired from litigation practice, he remains admitted to practice in all federal and state courts in Alabama, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Courts of appeal for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He is a member of the Montgomery County and Alabama State Bar Associations and is a former member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. He has served on the Boards of Directors of the Montgomery County Bar Association, Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, Montgomery Country Club, Lion’s Club, Alaga Whitfield Foods, Pioneers of Montgomery (President), Montgomery Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Montgomery Ballet. He is a member of Alpha Tau Omega and Phi Delta Phi fraternities.
He is married to the former Priscilla Tyler Crommelin and is a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. As the 1956 Alabama High School Golf champion and a former member of the University of Alabama golf team, he has not lost his passion for golf.
