George Pikus is an associate in Barton’s litigation group.

George brings an extensive array of trial and investigative experience to his practice at Barton.

George handles all aspects of litigation, including case management, pre-trial discovery and motion practice, witness interviews and preparation as well as the court proceedings themselves.

Prior to joining Barton, George was an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx, one of New York’s most active prosecutorial offices. His trial experience includes prosecuting over 500 cases, presenting over 75 cases to the grand jury, and acting as first chair and second chair trial counsel for multiple felony jury trials.

His prosecutorial and investigative background provides George with the strong ability to conduct and oversee both external and internal investigations, often liaising with regulatory and law enforcement agencies.
Prior to law school, George spent nine years in wealth management and securities trading as a Financial Advisor for Citigroup – Smith Barney and as a Proprietary Equity Trader with Locus Capital Partners.  His knowledge of the financial industry together with his prosecutorial background uniquely positions him to assist clients involved in financial services litigation and regulatory and white-collar matters.
George is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, which he attended on an Academic Dean’s Scholarship and where he was Associate Managing Editor of the New York International Law Review, published together with the New York State Bar Association. He received a B.A. in economics and political science from the University of Michigan.
