Ali Tozier is a problem solver, counselor, trainer, negotiator, and fierce advocate when the need arises. Her practice revolves around relationships, and she prides herself on being responsive, professional, kind, and a good listener. She specializes in effective communication.

Ali grew up watching her father run his own business and became fascinated by employment law issues early on. In law school, she interned with the agency for employment complaints in Maine, the Maine Human Rights Commission, which marked the beginning of her employment law path. Since graduating from law school in 2015, she has represented both employers and employees in employment law disputes and has practiced in front of the Maine Human Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Maine’s federal and state courts. She has resolved many employment disagreements by way of negotiation, mediation, or judicial settlement conference, but believes the best remedy to challenges in the workplace is adequate training. Ali enjoys offering workplace trainings to both supervisors and staff. The topics she teaches include but are not limited to: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Maine Human Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay laws, the PUMP Act, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and various other state & federal laws. She also offers implicit bias/diversity training and welcomes any opportunity to encourage more respect for all, regardless of a person’s background.

When Ali is not working, she is most likely volunteering, doing outdoor activities, dancing, or traveling. She volunteers for Peer-2-Peer Exchange (where foreign-trained lawyers connect with local lawyers), A Chance to Advance (where immigrants in the community are supported and given scholarships for college), the Maine State Breastfeeding Coalition (where awareness on expressing milk in the workplace is raised), and Maine’s Board of Bar Examiners (where she was appointed by the Governor to help evaluate the character and fitness of candidates for the bar). She has been designated by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star every year since 2017, a designation given to only 2.5% of attorneys in each state.

Ali is a Maine native and lives in Portland near her family.
