Stephen Craig ("Steve") Carleton is a Partner in the firm's Baton Rouge Office.
He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1981 with a BA in History. He graduated from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1984. Steve practiced his first eight years in New Orleans, becoming a partner of a major New Orleans firm before returning to Baton Rouge where he was a lead counsel/partner in a trial litigation law firm for over thirty years.
Mr. Carleton is admitted to practice in all federal and state courts in Louisiana. He has practiced in various courts in Texas and Georgia. His practice is concentrated in the areas of General Insurance Defense, Commercial Collection and Construction Litigation, Personal Injury Defense, Oilfield Injury and Property Damage Claims, Public and Police Liability claims, and disputes subject to Louisiana's New Home Warranty Act and Recreational Vehicle ("RV") Act. He lectures frequently on professionalism at seminars sponsored by the Baton Rouge Bar Association.
Mr. Carleton is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Historical Society, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. He has been named a Super Lawyer in Louisiana. Mr. Carleton is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state and federal courts, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.
He is a member of the University College Advisory Board of Louisiana State University, and a member of First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge. Mr. Carleton has received the Baton Rouge Bar Association President's Award for Distinguished Service to the Baton Rouge Bar.
