Mr. Futrell is of counsel with Degan, Blanchard & Nash.
Mr. Futrell received a B.S. degree from Mississippi State University in 1978, a J.D. degree from the University of Mississippi in 1981, and a LL.M. in Admiralty degree from Tulane University in 1982. In law school, Mr. Futrell was a Research and Senior Editor on the Mississippi Law Journal.
Mr. Futrell serves as the Society of Lloyd’s United States Service of Suit Counsel. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. He is also admitted in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, all Louisiana Federal Courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas. Mr. Futrell is a Proctor Member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and a member of the Excess, Surplus Lines & Reinsurance Committee of the American Bar Association
Mr. Futrell has defended underwriters and insureds in Jones Act suits, coverage disputes, and contractual indemnity claims. He has also written coverage opinions on a broad range of policies, including CGL, Hull, P&I, Cargo, Excess, Umbrella, Charterer’s Liability, and Terminal and Marina Operator’s Liability. Mr. Futrell has substantial experience with reinsurance, excess insurance, and non-marine claims, such as business interruption and commercial general liability claims at both the trial and appellate level.
