Meaghan M. Anderson is an energy attorney with over 10 years of transactional experience. As a former Gulf of Mexico Land Representative at Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and General Counsel and Land Manager at Cantium, LLC, she has considerable experience working with Federal, State, and local governmental agencies, landowners, contractors, and other partners in complex transactions. Meaghan has worked on an array of agreements and dealings, including drafting, negotiating, and approving leases, acquisitions, joint operating agreements, participation agreements, unit agreements, production handling agreements, farmout/farm-in agreements, production sharing agreements, rights-of-way, surface use agreements, and other exploration and production upstream contracts and provisions.

Meaghan has worked on litigation matters involving purchase and sale agreements, mediation, liability claims, and general civil litigation.

Meaghan is also a Louisiana Public Notary and Louisiana Remote Online Notary.

Additionally, Meaghan owns and operates Waterdogged Sportfishing, LLC, a luxury offshore sportfishing and tournament fishing company in South Florida. Her company has participated and placed in the Sport Fishing Championship, Ladies Fish Off, and the Sailfish Club. As an entrepreneur, she understands the complexities and issues faced by business owners and executives.

In her spare time, Meaghan likes to fish, cook, and volunteer for local humane societies and food banks.

  • Litigation:
    • Obtained $1.5 Million award by representing Buyer as in-house counsel in mediation for the successful settlement of claims under an asset sale and purchase agreement.
  • Transactions:
    • Represented Lessee/ Operator in obtaining unique State of Louisiana mineral lease terms as additional consideration for an offshore exploration play. The terms provided for the obligation to spud one well within the first year of the primary term or pay Lessor a penalty of $100,000.00. Additionally, royalty was agreed to be depth limited to encourage drilling for production attributable to the wells under the lease.
    • Represented Lessee/Operator in negotiating a new unit agreement with the State of Louisiana and the Department of the Interior in Bay Marchand Field, Offshore Louisiana.
    • Represented Operator in the assignment of record title and operating rights interests in offshore Federal leases from working interest non-operators for coring up of key field.
    • Represented Lessee/Operator in successful acquisition of new federal leases in GOM Lease Sale 250, 253, and 257.
    • Negotiated Pipeline Decomissioning Project between Operators and service industry contractors for federally required decommissioning project of idle iron in Main Pass Area, Federal Offshore, Louisiana.
