Marcel first came to the Firm in 1982 as a commercial litigator and successfully represented clients in state and local tax matters, commercial lease disputes, and fiduciary obligations issues. He practiced in this capacity until 1993 when he returned to Loyola University Law School as the interim Dean and full-time faculty teaching courses in Constitutional Law, First Amendment, Torts and the Legal Profession. He had previously served as the Dean of the Law School from 1970- 1982. While serving as Dean in 1978, Marcel was appointed as Judge Pro Tempore to the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal.
Upon law school graduation, he practiced law in New York in the tax department Standard Oil Company (now Exxon Mobil) where he handled executive compensation matters on the international, national and state level. He also handled legal issues surrounding the company’s various employee benefit plans.
