Troy Harwood-Jones received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Manitoba in 2002.

Troy's professional reputation is founded upon a strong commitment to professional ethics and client service. His main areas of practice are corporate law, civil and corporate litigation, employment law, regulatory & IP law, and estates.

Corporate Law - Troy uses his strong background in business to provide practical strategic and legal advice to business owners & entrepreneurs. He appreciates that business is success driven, and that a good lawyer is key to a client’s success. Smart business owners invest in a lawyer, and deserve a great return on their investment. In addition to providing legal advice and guidance on all general issues affecting his clients’ businesses (such as drafting business contracts, shareholder agreements, leases, corporate and regulatory compliance, employee issues, and privacy law), he has significant expertise and experience in mergers and acquisitions.

Civil and Corporate Litigation - While Troy routinely represents clients in Court, and is known to be hard-hitting advocate for his clients, he knows that people don’t want to be embroiled in a lawsuit – they need their problem solved. To his end, Troy brings to bear effective and persuasive negotiation strengths, backed by a demonstrated ability to provide balanced, well-considered, and timely advice to clients both from both a legal and a practical perspective.

Employment Law - Troy represents both employers and employees in employment matters. This experience – advising and advocating both employer and employee – has provided Troy the rare ability to bring a balanced approach to resolving employment disputes, leading to more efficient and cost-effective dispute resolution.

Regulatory & IP Law - Troy has specialized knowledge and expertise in pharmacy law, intellectual property law, and e-commerce business, having worked as in-house counsel for a multi-national international pharmaceutical business for 10 years. During this time he also developed significant experience in public advocacy and government relations. In 2010, he was privileged to be invited to the U.S. White House, to provide diplomatic input on practical approaches to distinguish legitimate international pharmacies from fraudulent and rogue businesses on the internet. He has also been a panelist and presenter before the Canadian House of Commons, Manitoba Legislature, and the United Nations Internet Governance Forum.

Estates - Troy lectures and provides advice and assistance to clients in the area of elder law, wills and estates, committeeship applications, and estate litigation.

In his private life, Troy enjoys spending time with his wife and family, and stays healthy and active by boxing, swimming, cycling, running, as well as Nordic and downhill skiing.
