Peter Regan is the Firm’s Managing Partner and oversees its Land Use and Litigation practice groups. He also serves as the Town Solicitor for the Town of Middletown, Rhode Island. He has over 25 years of experience representing a wide range of individual, commercial and institutional clients in the areas of land use & development, business & commercial law and civil & commercial litigation in both the state and federal courts. Peter uses his skills to help clients find practical solutions to complex problems, and to assist them in making the most of their opportunities. In land use matters, Peter helps clients to navigate the complicated and often overlapping process of obtaining state and local zoning, historic and environmental approvals.
When my sons were 8 years old, they asked me to explain what I actually did for a living. After some thought, I told them that I help people solve problems. I get great satisfaction from sitting with clients, listening to their goals and helping them to achieve them.
The essence of what we do is distilled in the phrase “Helping you meet challenges and seize opportunities”. Whether it’s assisting clients in resolving a business dispute or a dispute with their neighbor, working with them to establish a new business, or helping them to take advantage of a new opportunity, our focus is always on what the client wants.
A former prosecutor and municipal judge, Peter has lectured before the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy and local Police Departments regarding the prosecution of DWI cases, and was a guest speaker at the Rhode Island Judiciary Conference on Drunk Driving Laws. He is a frequent speaker on matters relating to land use & zoning, real estate litigation and other issues.
I learned early in my career that what I may believe is a great result doesn’t matter, unless the client also has the same goal. That’s why we begin each case by asking the client a simple question: “What would you like to see happen.” We then work with the client to devise a realistic plan to reach that goal.
