Brett A. Hyde is an experienced attorney who serves his clients in Widerman Malek’s Melbourne, Florida office. Brett focuses his legal practice on client matters related to Family Law and Bankruptcy, and he currently leads those two practices for the firm’s Melbourne office.

In the area of Family Law, Brett compassionately and skillfully serves his clients by counseling and representing them on a variety of issues, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, and enforcement. In the firm’s Bankruptcy Practice Group, Brett and his team handle bankruptcy cases related to Chapters 7, 13, and 11, as well as creditor representation for recovery of assets. Additionally, Brett is often called upon for complex commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts throughout Florida.

Before joining Widerman Malek’s managing partners Scott Widerman and Mark Malek, whom he had met during law school at Barry University, and bringing his extensive and unique legal experience to the firm, Brett was a founder of The Florida Legal Group, LLC. It was a full-service law firm that provided a vast array of business and personal legal representation in both civil and criminal matters.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Brett was an all-lines insurance adjuster for several well-known national insurance carriers. He ultimately decided to further his education by attending law school, and upon graduating, Brett’s years of insurance experience allowed him to offer robust and knowledgeable legal services in Insurance Law matters to his clients during his tenure at two different firms in Central Florida. Brett was involved in representation of the nation’s largest auto and home insurers, specifically related to their loss mitigation and claims recovery litigation known as subrogation, throughout the state of Florida. He also provided legal services to banks, credit unions, and other various local business enterprises.

In addition to representing his clients, Brett is actively involved in the local community with much of his efforts focused on organizations and activities that support local youth. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Rolling Readers Space Coast, which provides books and promotes reading among the underserved children in Brevard County. Brett also is a member of the Board of Directors for AMIkids, which is dedicated to helping troubled youth develop into responsible and productive citizens. Furthermore, he coaches Little League Baseball, flag football, Pop Warner football, basketball, and scouting.

Along with serving his clients and the community, Brett is an active member of his church, and he enjoys spending time with his family. He also is an avid participant in sports and recreation, including golfing (he can hold his own against Scott Widerman), fishing, hunting, and American muscle cars.
