Join us on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM EDT/5:00 PM CEST to learn more about the six (6) minimum standard cybersecurity requirements applicable to all Primerus™ members. Speakers will include Kenneth Rashbaum of Barton LLP and Dr. Johannes Struck of Brödermann Jahn.

This will be the first in a series of educational sessions to help members ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance Board’s Cyber Initiative.  We encourage all members and their IT professionals to participate and get detailed information about how to ensure that your firm has the following standard cybersecurity protections in place, or if not, how to achieve them in an efficient and cost-effective manner: 

  1. Multi-Factor Authentication for law firm network login (code sent upon login attempt to a different device that must be entered for access to network), for remote access or any access to cloud systems.
  2. Privileged Access Management and Identification Policy (establishment and termination of law firm network access), with Access Logs and Processes for Audits of Access Logs.
  3. Data Security Policy with Security Patch Management.
  4. Security Incident Plan and Breach Notification Policy and Processes. 
  5. Internal Risk Assessment and Security Monitoring Policy. 
  6. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan.

Kenneth Rashbaum

Kenneth Rashbaum, of Barton LLP (New York, New York), advises multinational corporations, financial services organizations and life sciences organizations in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, e-discovery for litigation and regulatory proceedings and information management. He counsels these entities on information governance and its compliance with federal, state, and non-U.S. laws and the interface of e-commerce and legal and regulatory liabilities in areas such as cybersecurity and breach response. Ken has vast experience in preparation and negotiation of technology contracts, including service level agreements and license agreements relating to compliance with data protection and privacy laws in the U.S. and other countries. He also leads information security and data breach response assessments, investigations and remediation initiatives; prepares policies for social media legal and electronic information regulatory compliance; counsels law firms as to legal, regulatory and ethics considerations in electronic information cybersecurity controls; and represents technology, e-commerce and life sciences organizations in federal and state investigations, governmental and insurance carrier audits, and in litigation.

Ken is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham Law School in New York, where he teaches two courses that he co-designed in cybersecurity, privacy and technology transactions.

Dr. Johannes Struck

Dr. Johannes Struck, of Brödermann Jahn (Hamburg, Germany), is specialized in IT data protection and cybersecurity law and has spent many years advising national and international companies from the technology industry as well as their customers, including public authorities. For example, on national and international contracts in IT-projects, especially IT-outsourcing, cloud-services, software rollouts and e-commerce etc. He is also regularly involved in structuring cross border data transfer, implementation of data protection audits and advising in connection with digital marketing and data concepts. 
He is Vice President of the Intellectual Property, Technology, Media and Telekommunications Commission of the International Association of Young Lawyers (aija).

He regularly gives lectures on IT, data protection and cybersecurity issues in Germany and abroad and has been expert in several panel discussions in this regard.
